Hi there
I'm trying to install solaris 10 on sparc ultra 10
After boot cdrom the systems try to come up, and I receive a warning:
setting ufs_ninode to max value <value>...
And the installation stucks, nthing happen more.

Could u kind help on this?

I tried 2 different DVDs burned at different speed (2X - 8X).
Have u ever seen this behaviour?

No, I haven't. I've got Solaris 10 running on a pair of Ultra 10s
without difficulty (numerous other boxes, but the Ultra 10 is
the oldest machine I've used Solaris 10 on -- although Solaris 10
is subjectively slower on Sun Blade 100)

Since your installing via DVDs, I'm guessing that this machine has
a DVD-ROM drive?

I have installed Solaris 8, 9, and 10 on Ultra 10s without difficulty.

Please supply some information on the hardware you are using. Ultra 10,
yes, but how many disks and what size are they? Are they EIDE disks
connected to the built-in controller? Or SCSI disks on a controller you
added? Or fiber channel on a controller you added? How much RAM do you
have installed?

You might also be more specific about the Version of Solaris you are
trying to install. There have been several releases of S10 over the
last few years.

Trying to boot the disks on another system should help
determine if that is the issue. How far after the system
comes up also might provide a clue. Some rtfm'ing in the
users and service manuals from docs.sun.com show how to
perform some diagnostics. It may be the pram just needs to
be upgraded again, but it may also indicate an issue with
the mainboard, processor, or memory. The only direct
eperience with unexplainable hanging on boot that I had
required a new main board, still relatively cheap if
secondhand and/or refurb at the moment.
